Eating Disorders
Treatment of eating disorders, specifically bulimia and anorexia, require coordinated treatment between a psychologist and a physician.
Eating disorders can be particularly difficult to solve because the patient may not recognize or agree that they are in need of treatment.
At the Center for Problem Solving, we have found that treatment may be shortened if concerned family members and/or friends agree to participate in the treatment with the patient.
Here are some questions to ask yourself about eating disorders:
- Do you think you are fat when others notice how thin you are?
- Do you consume food and then induce vomiting or use laxatives?
- Do you feel like you are unable to control the amount of food that you eat?
- Do you overeat when you want to change your mood? (cheer up, feel less depressed, when upset, tense, anxious or frustrated)
If you are able to answer “yes” to any of these questions about yourself or someone you care about, then you may benefit from treatment from a professional psychologist who will work with all parties concerned.
You Can Feel Better Quicker Than You Think!
Problems just seem to happen at the worst times, and go on forever. But it doesn't have to be this way anymore.
